 Canterbury defended their 2018 title by decisively winning the overall title in the 2019 South Island Junior Age group Teams Event held in Ashburton at the weekend. Southland came in second, Midlands third and Otago fourth. Canterbury dominated most age-groups with Otago picking up medals in the Under 11 & 13 girls and Under 11 boys.
