2023 Otago District Champions

The Otago District Open was held on the 21st and 22nd of July run by the Cromwell Community Squash Club. 
We ended up with 104 entries from throughout the district and further afield such as Southland, Canterbury and one from the Waikato. This was a fantastic number even after a number of last minute pull outs which resulted in some draw juggling. Given the number of entries, the decision was made to also play matches in Alexandra and Omakau. This was well received by all the players that enjoyed playing on other courts. By having the large number of entries it resulted in some close draws with lots of 5 setter games and a few upsets within the grades. We had 8 Mens grades and 5 Womens grades.
The weekend ended with a Hawaiian themed prizegiving and crowning of the Otago District Champions, Michael Martin and Aria Bannister. The weekend would not have been possible without the support of all the local businesses that supported the Open through their sponsorship.
